Community
Merriman Solicitors (incorporating AB Family Law) works with the local community. We remain involved with key events about the town from holding a ‘Court-room trial’ at the Town Hall for local businesses to understand what may happen in a real-life legal claim for a debt, through to accepting work placements for students from local schools. We sponsor local sports clubs and cultural events such as the Marlborough College Concert Series, enabling world-class musicians to play in the town.
Marlborough Puppetry Festival
We have previously chaired and added our sponsorship to the town’s hugely popular ‘World of Puppets’ summer event to celebrate the wonderful work of Bob Pelham and his world-famous hand-crafted puppets which brought a lot of interest to Marlborough. The event brought together among others, former staff at the Pelham Puppet factory, world-famous puppeteers, children involved in a grand finale puppet show at the town hall and students at St John’s School who showed off their art and engineering skills to create a 15 feet long magnificent Dragon to march with the Phoenix Band and Drummers of Marlborough through the town. http://www.marlborough-tc.gov.uk/marlborough-puppetry-festival
Marlborough Community Choir
Fundraising concert: Vanessa Lafaye said: ‘The concert was a tremendous success. We raised £1016 from the audience, which all goes to Brighter Futures, thanks to Merriman’s generosity of the event. Thank you again for your support. It made a big difference to the donation that we’re able to make.’ www.marlboroughcommunitychoir.org

Marlborough Football and Junior Rugby Clubs

Barbury Castle Point to Point
We too enjoy this popular local event and we are sponsors for a fence.

It is a privilege for us to showcase our local talent.
Kennet Valley Driving Group
KVDG enables disabled people to enjoy the pleasure of carriage driving by providing specially adapted carriages and highly trained horses, to ride together with able-bodied whips, to be assessed by the RDA. People with a wide range of disabilities can enjoy a sport safely, in good company and in the countryside. The participants say they have a feeling of freedom from their disability and that this sporting activity improves balance, coordination and muscle tone.
Wheelchair users access the carriages by ramps. It takes five helpers to load a wheelchair and when out on a drive, each carriage has a car in front and a car behind to warn other road users.
The Group is run entirely by volunteers who look after the horses, maintain equipment and assist and support disabled drivers on the carriage. KVDG is a registered charity number 1074359 affiliated to Riding for Disabled, which was founded in 1969.
